Henchy's Bar Exhibition

It's Henchy's Bar exhibition time again

Silverpoint pen

I've just bought a silverpoint pen.

Now What to do with it. A few sketches I think in my sketch book that I got from Lidl. I picked up a few of these few weeks ago and haven't drawn in them yet.

Time Time Time.

Had a busy few weeks, daughter went off to college to study animation production in Clonmel

Tuesday 16 July 2013

loads of watercolour paper

I've just bought a load of watercolour paper.
Can't wait to get going painting on them.
I think a series of fantasy flowers or poppies. maybe some experiments in acrylics.
I'll have to find some time to myself  but there always seems to be something to get done or finished.
I've sold another cupcake watercolour so I'll have to paint another few of them.
It's going to be hung in a local pub called Barry's.

Our Exhibition has opened and countines until the 17th May 2013. We're really happy with it this year. All of us have new works on display. Exhibition was opened by Michael Downes who stepped in at the last minute to help us out. It was lovely to see friends and family there to support us.

Sales at the shopping Centre

Sales are on the increase at the shopping centre and I'm enjoying meeting the people who buy my work.
This is my most recent sale, a fun painting.

messing with some watercolours

I recently found my watercolours in the cupboard and decided to do a little messing with them. I wouldn't be totally at ease with this type of paint and decided to have a go. I had a bit of fun with blowing the paint around and using some delicate pastel colours.
I must do some more

Art in a shopping centre

I've just got the opportunity to sell my art in a local Shopping Centre. I've volunteered to do some art with some kids on a Saturday mornings there and they have given me wall to display my art. My Art has been up now for about 2 weeks and I sold 8 paintings, which for me is a great success. This gives me a chance to sell some paintings and to buy materials for making more art. Here is one of the ones that sold. My First of 2013.

Painting Demo With Peg Quinlan

We're having a Paint demo with Peg Quinlan on the 20th February 2012. It's in the usual place in the SMA community Centre room 5 upstairs. 10 til 12 noon

Preparing canvases

I've just prepared some MDF panels for my next paintings. I got my local DIY with a cutting service to cut up a Sheet of MDF for me to the sizes I wanted. By doing this I have made a new friend and I'm sure he'll see me again. I like the size 16 by 22 inches (about 40 cm by 56 cm). It's nice for Landscapes. The DIY will cut any size for you and there will be no waste. The MDF panels have to be then prepared by painting a few coats of Gesso on them. I know this might not be the correct but I like to use blackboard paint. I'm able to sketch with a pastel pencil. When you paint over this the pastel it mixes into the paint. I like the smooth surface of the board. I usually paint with acrylics on these panels and put a light coat of varnish when finished. When they are put into a floating frames they look really nice.
